It is one of the finest water-bird sanctuaries in the world, where several indigenous bird species and migratory fowl, some from as far away as Siberia, come annually during winter to rest & breed. In a few years, the new wetland surrounded by marginal forests was able to support thousands of water bodies. It is recognized as a ‘World Heritage Site’ by UNESCO in the year 1985. Over 300 species of birds are found here. Pythons, wild boars, spotted deer’s are also native to this bird park.
